Finding resources

This section explains all the most important types of information resource you will need to use.

Test tubesDatabases

Textbooks offer a great introduction or overview of a subject and particularly in the earlier stages of your course will be an important way to engage with new topics.  The more you move into faster moving areas of research, the more you will need to look at journal articles covering the latest research and debates.

At first, you can expect to be guided by your tutors with suggestions as to what you read. As you develop more knowledge and expertise, you will want to explore the research in the journal literature for yourself. Library databases are essential tools for finding out what has been published.
