Library Search is an excellent place to start looking for resources. It helps you to discover the wider range of books, articles and other resources available at the Library in physical and online formats.

As a student or member of staff, you can access the extensive collection of digital books and articles from anywhere in the world through the library search. Most of the articles you need are available in digital form and can be read online.

Books are available in digital or print form, with some available as both. Most of the print books for education are located in the Education Library. Library Search will show you when print books are also available in digital form. You may also find useful resources on psychology, child development or policy in the Arts and Social Sciences Library.

Reference books

These are a great place to start your research as they contain useful summaries of key themes, concepts or a scholar's ideas. They may have titles like The Student’s Companion to… or The Handbook of… Or Introduction to…

Monographs (books)

These in-depth, scholarly books are important for further research once you have grasped the basics.

Articles

Articles are published regularly in journals, also known as periodicals. These contain up-to-date and in-depth content for your assignments. They are peer-reviewed to ensure that they are of high quality. By reading journal articles, you keep up to date with new research before it becomes incorporated in books.

Resource lists

If your course has an online Resource List, you will find a link in the Blackboard area for the unit. Look for the logo below to identify your list and unit resources - please consult this carefully as it contains details of core and recommended readings.
